Did you know that three million women are living with breast cancer -- and one third of them don't even know it? Even more startling, breast cancer kills approximately one woman every 13 minutes, robbing us of our mothers and grandmothers, our aunts, our sisters, and our best friends. No one knows what causes breast cancer or how it can be prevented and there is currently no known cure.
Knowing these statistics, I feel even more compelled to do something to increase awareness, to help heal, to prevent and to cure breast cancer. This year, as I celebrate my 50th birthday, I am asking 50 other women to join me (EverStrong Team) in the Sister's Network Inc. 8th Annual Stop the Silence Walk.
The Sisters Network Inc. is an organization committed to increasing local and national attention to the devastating impact that breast cancer has in the African American community.
The Stop the Silence Walk benefits the Breast Cancer Assistance Program (BCAP). The Breast Cancer Assistance Program provides services to women facing financial challenges. It provides financial assistance for but not limited to medical related lodging, co-pay, office visits and prosthesis. The program also provides FREE Mammograms for those who qualify.
Please take this opportunity to honor the women you love by becoming one of the 50 women on the EverStrong Team who are walking and raising funds to help "Stop the Silence."
